Foundation Repairs and Living Room Enhancement

exterior
This house looks fine from the outside, but sloping floors
inside suggested serious problems with the foundation.

The tree trunks used to hold up the house were not properly footed, causing them to sink into the soil at an uneven rate.

   New Windows
The porch on this old house had been completely enclosed with attractive windows that did not open. The new energy saving windows can be opened, letting summer breezes in to cool the house reducing the need for air conditioning while still providing maximum light. Just as important, the windows can be locked firmly against early spring and late fall cold winds thus conserving heat.

   New Windows
New windows have been installed. The old grass-like carpet has been removed and the sub-flooring is being installed. This will bring the porch floor up level with the living room floor so that the porch will be a seamless extension of the original living room.

painting the new fireplace
The new floor has been laid and finished; the walls and windows painted. The room is ready to move into. And on the other end of the living room, the fireplace has been repaired and is being painted. The detail work here with finished wood columns and a marble hearth required extensive masking to ensure no paint where it didn't belong. The bright blue tape won't harm the finish on the wood when it's removed.
